Penzance Railway Station in 1920

Great photo of Penzance train station, Cornwall, England. It is the western terminus on the Cornish Main Line running all the way to Paddington Station, London. The now 4 platform station was first opened in 1852. I am not sure about the layout in the photo above though, looks more to me like there are only two platforms along with a goods facility and a shed?

I remember 23 years ago travelling from Holland to Penzance, with a stretch on the night train from London to Penzance. Arriving at 7am in basking sunshine and walking to the harbour to enjoy the start of a fresh day (though exhausted from the journey) with a nice bottle of proper milk (with the little bits of fat floating on top). The best milk I ever had!

Penzance. Terminus of the Great Western line from London Paddington and Plymouth. I find it worth comparing this 1920s view with Ben Brooksbank's shot taken in 1958, after the station layout had been developed somewhat - see www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2039690
