Bank Hall MPDFrom the title original title 'Sandhills new shed 1928' I presumed this was Sandhills near Liverpool, England. However, suggestions below made me reconsider this to be Bank Hall.
From the side of the 1st whole steam locomotive from the left, this is LMS rolling stock.

Hi Martin,
Sure, I'll change the caption then, or better, I'll change it now. I trust your judgement and expertise :) Input / confirmation by Peter is always appreciated though :)

Thank you for your confidence in my judgement / research, but I'm afraid I'm too busy just now to dig further into this!

I worked at Bank Hall Motive Power Depot from 1944 to 1949 as a railway clerk. Mr Davenport was in charge and the son of Mr Stanier was his deputy. The depot was opposite Bank Hall Railway Station on the Southport to Liverpool Line.

Bank Hall mpd and Kirkdale depot. I have this message from Steven Riley:
'I work for Merseyrail in Liverpool, in the 1980s I worked at Kirkdale Depot as a guard. I found the Bank Hall Shed photo really interesting to see how things used to be. One thing that always intrigues me is the access point to the north end of Kirkdale Depot and what looks like old sidings into the Rifkin’s Scrap yard??
Was that a siding ? If so, do you or do you know of anyone who may photos of that area.'
If anyone is able to help, please comment here, and I can forward information to Steven. Thanks.

Think Steve/Martin is talking about the NE corner of the site - in the modern access off Marsh Street area....

Yes you're right Pete, the modern access came with the new depot. Before that date Rifkins scrap yard was a private concern, with a rail head. A small private diesel shunt would leave loaded scrap wagons outside their gate. 32 pilot, jinty would gain access to their yard via the shed, which ran at the back of carriage sidings, and leave empties, the photo shows the route at side of shed from no 8 road. 32 & 33 pilots were working in Bank Hill sidings, alongside Southport line. If Peter confirms, then you could maybe change the heading to Bank Hall MPD, Marcel?
