
Time Capsules
Strand Hotel, Kerry, IrelandBy Inch Strand, a three-mile beach which was totally unspoilt in 1959 and looks much the same today. Offshore gannets would wheel aloft before diving on fish fifty feet below. The hotel appears largely unchanged too, but with an extension on its western side. Fifty years ago I remember the fried breakfasts with black pudding and in the bar drinking a very addictive locally-made ginger beer.
