Straight ShedThe 'Straight Shed' Willesden Loco. Taken in 1963 or 1964 from the steam engine re-coaling plant. I worked there as a Diesel Electrician at the time. Work on the diesel locos was mostly done in the 'Round' shed, steam in the above. As I recall it was a pretty dirty place to work in. Very cold in winter as the wind blew in from the right of pic' straight down the lines on engines, which were over 'pits' to enable working underneath. A bit like a wind tunnel at times.

One of Stanier's Coronation or Duchess class pacifics is visible in the haze. I think the red-liveried locomotive may be 46245 City of London, which by 1964 was a Crewe North engine. It was withdrawn in that year.

I think there is at least one Britannia in the shot, nearest the wall, on the left. Since "she" has a high sided tender it's likely to be one of the later numbered loco's.
