Comments:
The old man is Stephen Headon who lived to be about 96 years of age. He was a survivor of the great gale of 1835, when about 26 fisherman from Clovelly lost their lives. He managed to sail across Bideford Bay to Saunton Sands where he was found in the sand dunes about three days after the storm.

The other fishermen in the photo are Albert Braund, Roland Hortop and David Headon, son of the old man. The other two are unidentified.
