Mary Gordon - pleasure boat on the Foss Dyke
During the 1950s (and perhaps even earlier) the "Mary Gordon" used to take passengers from the Brayford Pool in Lincoln up and down the Foss Dyke to the Pyewipe Inn on the way to Saxilby. I lived close to the "river" as we called it, on Carr Street (long since demolished) so she was a familiar sight.
Apologies for the poor quality but this was scanned from my photo album, which has followed me through several different countries in the last 50 years!

HOPES DASHED FOR RESTORATION OF 100-YEAR-OLD BOAT
Restorers who want to put the Mary Gordon - one of Lincoln's oldest boats - back into use have had their funding hopes dashed.
The Mary Gordon Trust was set up to save and restore its namesake which is the oldest electrically powered pleasure boat still in existence.
It currently sits beside the Fossdyke canal in Lincoln and the trust's dream is to restore it to a condition good enough to carry passengers.
But a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for up to £375, 000 has been refused while £3m has been given to restore the Vulcan.
