Greenhill is between Cumbernauld, Castlecary Lower and Larbert on the former line to/ from Glasgow's Buchanan Street station.

Greenhill, near Cumbernauld. So this station was on the main Caledonian Railway line between Aberdeen, Perth, Stirling and Glasgow, and I assume 60006 is hauling an Aberdeen-Glasgow express, or visa versa. There is a rather stark contrast in its run-down external appearance here compared with the early fifties shot (picture #727). In 1964 the locomotive only had another year or so of active life.
Greenhill also appeared to have a second station before 1923: on the North British route to Falkirk (High) and Linlithgow. The two routes met at a junction west of Greenhill, towards Castlecary

Yes indeed, Greenhill was on the former Caledonian main line just north of Castlecary where the line passed under the NB Main Line to Edinburgh. There was a large yard there, mainly because Greenhill was the creosoting depot for railway sleepers so they would be despatched to all destinations in Scotland and possibly South of the Border as well. The connection from the two routes consisted of two junctions, Greenhill Upper on the NB and Greenhill Lower on the CR route. Both junctions are still very much part of the present day ScotRail although now controlled by the new centre in Springburn at Cowlairs.
Think the second station you mention might have been Bonnybridge High on the NB but open to correction there.
