
Time Capsules
Baldersby Railway StationGates open for road users at the Baldersby Railway Station, North Yorkshire, England.
The station was opened in 1848 by the Leeds and Thirsk Railway. Became part of the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923 and in 1948 as a result of nationalisation became part of the Eastern Region of British Rail. It was closed in 1959 by the British Transport Commission.
Nowadays nothing besides from dead-end track is left.

Baldersby. The far platform looks very low and short. Was it replaced by a platform beyond the level crossing? The neat looking infrastructure had seriously decayed after closure - this is Ben Brooksbank's shot looking the other way, taken in 1965: www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1745394
