Shide Railway Station c1940s

Photo of the Shide train station, Isle of Wight, as it was in the 1940s.
This one platform station was built in 1875 and situated on the line from Newport to Sandown (run by the Isle of Wight and Newport Junction Railway). Lack of demand resulted in closure in 1956 and the building sadly is no more.
